The pad will vibrate when the alarm goes off, quietly waking you.  

The Wake & Shake Alarm Clock also offers the choice of a loud tone which includes an alarm or ringing sound with snooze and volume control and a flashing strobe light. This unique feature of the Wake & Shake Alarm Clock can be used as a telephone ringing signaler. Plug the clock into the phone jack and when the phone rings, the flashing strobe will alert you to the phone ringing. Another great way to alert individuals with a hearing impairment that they have a phone call; or prevent the phone ringing from disturbing others.
